This 2.4GHz 3dBi external WiFi antenna with SMA-to-IPX (U.FL) pigtail cable is the most straightforward and effective way to boost the wireless range and signal strength of your ESP32, ESP32-CAM, ESP8266, NodeMCU, and other 2.4GHz WiFi and Bluetooth modules that feature an onboard U.FL / IPEX connector. The onboard PCB trace antenna found on most development boards is adequate for short-range use, but this external 3dBi dipole antenna extends your effective wireless range significantly — making it essential for projects behind walls, inside enclosures, or at the edge of network coverage.

The antenna operates across the 2400–2500MHz ISM band with a 3dBi gain and 50Ω impedance, delivering a meaningful improvement in both signal reception and transmission strength over the typical built-in chip antenna or PCB trace. The SMA connector on the antenna end and U.FL (IPX) connector on the cable end make it directly compatible with any module featuring a U.FL socket, with a cable length of approximately 100mm.

Note that some ESP32 modules (such as the ESP32-WROOM-32U) require moving a zero-ohm resistor jumper to switch from the PCB trace antenna to the external IPX port before use.
