SIM900 GSM GPRS Shield

The SIM900 GSM GPRS Shield adds mobile phone capability to your Arduino. Insert a SIM card, stack the shield onto an Arduino Uno-style board, and your project can send and receive SMS messages, make voice calls, and connect to the internet over GPRS.

Built around the SIMCom SIM900 quad-band module, it is controlled with standard AT commands over a UART link. A jumper lets you choose between hardware serial on D0/D1 and software serial on D7/D8, and a power select switch chooses between the Arduino 5V rail and an external supply. The SMA connector and included antenna get you online right away, while two 3.5mm jacks let you connect a microphone and earphone for voice calls.

Because GSM transmission draws short bursts of high current, power it through the DC jack or another external supply capable of around 2A for stable operation. It is a great fit for remote monitoring, alarm systems, vehicle tracking, and IoT projects built by hobbyists, makers, and students.
