The KY-039 Heartbeat Sensor Module is a non-invasive optical pulse detection component designed for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other microcontroller platforms. Using an infrared LED and phototransistor pair, the module detects blood flow changes beneath the skin by measuring subtle variations in light absorption — producing an analog output signal that corresponds to the user’s heartbeat when a fingertip is placed over the sensor.
