13.56MHz RFID Key Tag

The 13.56MHz RFID Key Tag is a compact, battery-free access token that you can attach to a key ring, bag, or lanyard. Based on the popular MIFARE Classic 1K (S50) chip, it works with widely used 13.56MHz readers, including RC522 and PN532 modules, making it an ideal choice for DIY access control, attendance, and identification projects.

Each tag has a unique 4-byte ID set at the factory, which your microcontroller can read as soon as the tag is held near the reader. The tag also includes 1KB of rewritable memory, organised in 16 sectors of 4 blocks each and protected by key-based access, so you can store small amounts of data such as user levels, balances, or counters directly on the tag. It follows the ISO/IEC 14443 Type A standard and is rated for over 100,000 write cycles. Passive operation means there is nothing to wire, solder, or charge: the tag is powered by the reader’s RF field from a distance of a few centimetres.

Please note that this is a 13.56MHz (HF) tag, so it will not work with 125kHz readers such as the RDM6300 or EM4100 systems. Whether you are a beginner building your first RFID door lock or a maker adding smart ID to a custom project, this tag is a simple, affordable, and reliable choice.
