The WS2812B 5050 RGB LED Module is a compact 2×2 board carrying four individually addressable RGB pixels, each with a built-in WS2812B driver. Using a single data pin from an Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or other microcontroller, you can set the colour and brightness of every pixel separately, producing about 16.7 million colours (256 levels per colour channel) from just four LEDs.
Each module has power, ground, data in, and data out connections, so several boards can be chained together to build bigger displays, light bars, and animated effects while still using only one control pin. It runs on 5V and works with popular libraries such as FastLED and Adafruit NeoPixel, so getting started takes minutes. Typical projects include wearables, badges, props, indicator lights, mood lighting, and 3D printed lamps.
Each pixel can draw up to about 60mA at full white, so a four-pixel board can draw roughly 240mA. Power larger chains from a separate 5V supply with a common ground, and add a series resistor of 300 to 500 ohms on the data line and a capacitor across the supply for best reliability.
