Powered by the custom RP3A0 system-in-package featuring a quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 processor running at 1GHz with 512MB LPDDR2 SDRAM, the Zero 2 W offers five times the multi-threaded performance and 40% more single-threaded performance compared to the original Pi Zero.
Built-in 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 with BLE support eliminate the need for external wireless adapters, making IoT projects simpler and more reliable. The upgraded wireless circuitry features a metal-shielded enclosure for improved RF compliance and better signal quality. The board maintains complete compatibility with the original Zero form factor, fitting into existing cases and accessories while delivering significantly enhanced processing power.
Measuring just 65mm × 30mm, the Zero 2 W packs impressive connectivity including a mini HDMI port for video output, micro USB OTG port for peripherals, CSI-2 camera connector for Raspberry Pi camera modules, and unpopulated 40-pin GPIO header compatible with HAT accessories. The RP3A0 SiP integrates a Broadcom BCM2710A1 die—the same chip used in Raspberry Pi 3—with wire-bonded RAM for optimal space efficiency.
