The MG996R Tower Pro Digital Servo is an upgraded, high-torque metal gear servo built for projects that need more precision and strength than a standard hobby servo. It responds to a standard PWM signal, so it works with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, other microcontrollers, and RC receivers.
Compared with the MG995, it adds a redesigned control board for more accurate positioning and better centering, along with a shock-resistant dual ball bearing design for smooth, steady motion. It delivers up to 11kg-cm of stall torque at 6V with a speed of 0.14 seconds per 60 degrees, enough for robotic arm joints, steering linkages, and heavier moving parts.
The standard-size body fits common servo brackets, and the 3-pin JR connector plugs into most receivers and servo headers. It is a great choice for robotic arms, RC cars, boats, planes, and automation builds by hobbyists, makers, and students. Power it from a separate supply within its rated voltage, since it can draw up to 2.5A when stalled, and join the grounds together.
