This DC-DC Auto Step-Up/Step-Down Converter Module combines two proven switching regulator ICs — the LM2596S for step-down (buck) operation and the LM2577S for step-up (boost) operation onto a single dual-layer PCB, automatically selecting the correct conversion mode regardless of whether the output voltage you set is above or below the input. This eliminates the need to choose between separate buck and boost modules for variable-source power projects.
With a wide input voltage range of 4–35V and a continuously adjustable output of 1.25–25V, this module adapts to virtually any low-voltage DC power source. It also functions as a non-isolated constant current / constant voltage (CC/CV) charging module, making it well suited for charging lithium-ion, LiFePO4, NiCd, and NiMH battery packs, as well as regulating power from solar panels and small wind generators. Independent voltage-set and current-set trimpots allow precise tuning of both output parameters, while onboard LED indicators (red for CC mode, red for charging, blue for charge complete) provide clear visual status feedback.
Rated for up to 3A output current (15W natural-cooling, higher with a heatsink), with built-in short-circuit and constant-current overload protection, this module is a versatile and dependable conversion solution for DIY solar systems, battery charging circuits, automotive and motorcycle 12V systems, and high-power LED constant-current driving.
