ESP32 or ESP8266?
The ESP32 has two cores, Bluetooth, more pins and more memory, and is the better choice for new projects. The ESP8266 is simpler and fine for basic WiFi tasks. The S3 adds native USB and more memory, the C3 is tiny and low-power, and the ESP32-CAM adds a camera. All of them use 3.3V logic and are programmed from the Arduino IDE or ESP-IDF over USB.
