Using LEDs
A plain LED needs a series resistor: about 220Ω to 330Ω from a 5V pin. Check common anode or common cathode before wiring RGB LEDs and seven-segment displays. 12V panel indicators and car bulbs have the resistor built in. Addressable RGB strips and rings are in LED modules.
